On the plus side, the duo have competent corporate employee Connie (Rosario Dawson) on the radio, talking them through their various attempts to corral and then stop the potentially lethal locomotive. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

Trevor Johnston-Time Out
Though it's a ridiculous ride, it offers the heightened pulse of a great race.
Bruce Diones-New Yorker
Of course it's implausible, but it's also consistently entertaining.
Richard Roeper-Richard Roeper.com
This isn't groundbreaking fare, mind you. But Unstoppable muscles through its story of peril with crafted intensity and a few well-placed grins.
Lisa Kennedy-Denver Post
Though inspired by a real incident, the movie is an opportunistic political allegory about an economy that's out of control and industries that are weakened by layoffs, under-staffing and corporate callousness.
-Globe and Mail
There's a gut-level simplicity to "Unstoppable" that works despite all its clichés.
Tom Long-Detroit News
Director Tony Scott delivers in this exciting thrill ride.
John Hanlon-Big Hollywood
Scott proves once again that action movies don't need to be a headache-inducing, bright, loud, irritating experience, but instead can be something more when given the right treatment.
Jeff Beck-Examiner.com
The title, then, is probably referring to the human spirit. That's corny, but it works.
Walter Chaw-Film Freak Central
Despite Tony Scott managing to maintain his high-octane style, the relative simplicity of the plot gives Unstoppable a more intimate feel than his usual bombastic actioner
Laurence Boyce-Little White Lies
... As the train picks up speed, the movie does the same.
Greg Maki-Star-Democrat (Easton, MD)
Thunderous, metallic, ominous, screeching sound effects add to the sensory perception that you're watching a megaton monster barreling toward a dramatic showdown.
Neil Pond-American Profile
Welcome to the Machismo Express.
Ed Whitfield-The Ooh Tray
Pretty heavy on cliches, but the simple fact that the film's one giant popcorn-infused action sequence should please most action fans.
R. L. Shaffer-IGN DVD
Scott subdues his more stylized tendencies to deliver the kind of meat-and-potatoes action thriller that might very well be watched and enjoyed by the heroic blue collar characters in this movie.
Jeffrey Chen-Window to the Movies
Unstoppable takes a simple premise and spins it into an entertaining film surging with pure energy.
Mark Pfeiffer-Reel Times: Reflections on Cinema
Tony Scott's Unstoppable is, in a word, awesome.
Jeffrey M. Anderson-Combustible Celluloid
Washington has these films down to a science by now, and it's fun to watch a consummate professional do his thing.
James Plath-Movie Metropolis
Just the ticket for fun at the movies, Unstoppable is a non-stop joy ride.
Roger Tennis-Cinemaclips.com
This simple but effective man versus machine blockbuster signals a return to form for director Tony Scott.
Andreas Heinemann-Flicks.co.nz
(Director Tony) Scott is much better at building tension here than he was in 2009's so-average-it-hurt remake of The Taking of Pelham 123.
Jim Schembri-The Age (Australia)
As they say about train wrecks, it's impossible to look away.
Anders Wotzke-Moviedex
Highly accomplished, wholly predictable filmmaking with a monster of a runaway train as central protagonist.
Simon Weaving-Screenwize
When compared to Tony Scott's patented two men actioners, Unstoppable stands tall as a highlight in sound, fury, and token action movie silliness.
Matthew Pejkovic-Matt's Movie Reviews
Unstoppable certainly is nail-biting -- if only for the furious editing, swooping cameras, crash zooms and thunderous soundtrack. It's a shame that it's impossible to escape the sense of autopilot that pervades.
Scott Henderson-FILMINK (Australia)
Just what you'd expect and maybe a little more, this no-filler action flick delivers a loud, CGI-free thrill ride with Denzel Washington as an added bonus.
